Creating a Perfect Surround Sound System in Your Home
If you plan on building a true surround sound home theater system, you are going to have to place your speakers around the room in strategic locations to get the optimal sound quality that you are after. But how do you go about doing this? The answer to all of your problems is a good set of speaker mounts.
Speaker mounts are little more than simple mounting brackets, however, their sole purpose in being created

Will Any Speaker Mounts Work with my Speakers
For the most part, yes. Most speaker mounts these days are universal and will work with just about any speakers, or at least name brand speakers that is. When shopping for speaker mounts you can look at the product description to determine whether they are a universal fit or designed for a particular brand or model of speakers. While most mounting kits are universal, some of the higher end systems such as Bose will have brand specific speaker mounts. Though I should note that many manufacturers are now creating universal speaker mounts that work with these systems as well.
Aside from a universal fit, you will always want to look at price and quality. Cheap speaker mounts are often just that, cheap. They have a tendency to be constructed of lower quality materials, are more likely to vibrate and/or break and are an overall inferior product. When you really take a close look at the cost, it won't run you much more to get a good set of mounts. Its worth the little extra money to have a product that will outlast the life of your sound system.
If you are unsure as to what type of speaker mounts you need for your home speakers you can always contact the manufacturer directly to find out.
How to Install Speaker Mounts
Speaker mounts are relatively easy to install depending on the brand and type you purchase. Of course, there are a couple of best practice tips for installing your new mounts which we have outlined below:
Secure them to a wall stud or ceiling joist: The best case scenario for installing your new speaker mounts would be to fasten them directly to a wall stud or ceiling joist with screws/bolts. This is going to give you a much stronger hold than some of the other options.
Secure them to the wall with butterfly anchors: Every room is different and if you cant find or access a stud in the wall in the area you would like your speakers mounted, this is the next best option. Butterfly anchors will fasten securely to the drywall allowing for a secure installation.
The absolute last thing you want when installing your speaker mounts is a loose or insecure fitting. The vibration created by most home speakers can cause the mounts to rattle and potentially come loose over time. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that your speakers and all of your hard work will wind up on the floor in a bunch of little pieces. Believe me, this is not an experience you want to have.
